According to news sources, as of this morning, more than 120 people have died and over 2 million homes and businesses remain without power across six states in the southeastern United States as a result of destruction caused by Hurricane Helene. Many more people are missing and officials fear the death toll may rise in the coming days.
Disaster Relief - Davis Fire
September 09, 2024
According to the Reno Gazette-Journal, the Davis Fire, which began Saturday at the Davis Creek Campground in Washoe Valley, has grown to around 4,700 acres and has destroyed over a dozen structures. Nevada Governor Joe Lombardo has declared a State of Emergency, evacuation orders remain in place for several communities, and Washoe County School District canceled classes on Monday, while thousands of residents remain without power. Many are looking for ways to help.

Dixie Fire Fund Update

In July 2021, the Dixie Fire spread through Northeastern California. The fire consumed homes and businesses across five California counties and into the Sierras, burning nearly one million acres. The fire displaced residents and destroyed buildings, but a sense of community remained.

Time for a Checkup? Annual Physicals Help Keep Charities Healthy

Over many years, the Community Foundation has developed tools to ensure our organization's good health, akin to a person who completes a physical exam. Tools also exist for assessing the performance of charities, whether as a donor, professional advisor, or nonprofit operator. Village on Sage Street Reaches 100% Occupancy

Thanks to fundholders and donors the Village on Sage Street is home this winter to 216 people, many of who were homeless or on the verge of homelessness. A stable and secure home is life-changing. Even better, the Village on Sage Street is a warm and welcoming community.
