Welcome David Brokaski Community Foundation Chief Financial Officer

David Brodaski

Please join me in welcoming David Brokaski as the Community Foundation of Northern Nevada CFO.

Dave joined our staff two months ago as Controller, and then upon the departure of Melissa Tschanz, has been promoted to CFO, a position for which he is highly qualified. Dave majored in accounting earning a Bachelor of Science from the University of Illinois at Chicago and dual MBA/MPH degrees from UCLA .  He is a Certified Public Accountant licensed in Nevada and is a member of the Nevada Society of CPAs. Before joining the Community Foundation, he worked in public accounting and internal audit roles before transitioning to Controller and CFO positions in healthcare, service, and nonprofit entities, gaining valuable knowledge of accounting and auditing for a variety of businesses, including nonprofits. Dave has been in Reno since 2004 and is originally from the Midwest. He enjoys the mix of climates and the bountiful recreational opportunities of the Reno-Tahoe area with his family.

During the last year, the Community Foundation expanded the authority of our Finance team to handle the transactional side of the Community Foundation’s work more directly.

With Dave’s leadership and the hiring of a new Controller, we will finish this transition. This streamlined and efficient process will free time for the CEO to spend more time on community leadership and engage with donors and fundholders.

With Dave as CFO, the Community Foundation will move forward with some significant improvement. 

Changes include an imminent major software upgrade that will not only improve our accounting side but our stewardship, development, and marketing as well. The purchase considerations and research of the software we are acquiring are nearly complete, and we are well into the development of a soon-to-be-launched new website. I could not be more pleased to have Dave Brokaski, with his vast experience and a steady hand, help shepherd us through this growth process.
