What is Your Estate Plan
Few people update their will or trust regularly. Fewer people actually have a will. If you have not created an estate plan, you should know that the State of Nevada has a plan already in place. If you’d rather that the State does not determine where your assets go, a great first step is attending this Free Family Estate Planning Series.
Even if you do have your estate plans organized, have you thought about what will happen to your digital assets? This year a class has been added about the need to make a complete inventory and informational record for your executor to keep your financial and personal information safe and private. A worksheet is included in the free Series binder given to participants.
More than 1800 residents have attended these workshops since 2007. The next series begins on September 19 and runs through November 7. Classes are scheduled on Wednesdays at 10:30 A.M.- Noon, or 1:30 P.M.- 3 P.M., at the Sierra View Library at the Reno Town Mall (4001 S. Virginia). Call the Community Foundation at 775-333-5499 to register.
Both morning and afternoon classes are the same, so if you need to switch times back and forth, you can. A key attribute of the series is that participant’s contact information is confidential they are not solicited for a gift, and none of the presenters will promote their own business or try to sell products.
Underwritten by KNPB and the Community Foundation, the Series would not be possible without the generous support of a dozen local charity sponsors. Speakers are mostly attorneys and other local professional fiduciaries who volunteer their time and expertise. The Community Foundation of Western Nevada established and helps operate this program because we recognize the intersection of good planning and philanthropy. Please call the Community Foundation at 777-333-5499. There is still time to register for the series.
