Legacy Illuminated – Legacy Appreciation Event

On October 22, the Community Foundation of Northern Nevada hosted Legacy Illuminated, a heartfelt evening at the Stadium Club at the University of Nevada, Reno honoring the transformative power of legacy giving. The event brought together legacy society members, Board and staff, and community leaders to celebrate those who have chosen to leave a lasting impact through planned gifts.
Legacy giving is more than a financial contribution; it’s a powerful statement of belief in the future. It ensures that the causes we care about today continue to thrive for generations. The evening was a tribute to those who have made this commitment, and a reminder of the enduring strength of community philanthropy.
One of the most moving moments of the night was a moderated dialogue led by Eaton Dunkelberger, featuring Stephanie Rempe of Nevada Athletics and Mike Wurm from the Boys & Girls Club of Truckee Meadows. Together, they reflected on the legacy of Roger Bergmann, whose planned gifts continue to shape lives and opportunities across Northern Nevada.
Stephanie shared how Roger’s endowment empowers student-athletes and strengthens the foundation for long-term growth in collegiate sports. Mike emphasized how Roger’s support sustains the infrastructure behind more than 130 youth programs, ensuring underserved children have access to enriching experiences. Their stories illuminated how legacy giving is not just about financial support, it is about investing in values, community, and the future.
As Lyndsey Crossley, CAP®, Philanthropic Advisor, expressed in her closing message: “Legacy giving is a way to ensure that our work continues to thrive for generations to come. Your support and engagement inspire us.”
