Sally L. Tappan of Reno, Nevada died resting at her son’s home Wednesday, March 22, 2017. The days before, she was surrounded by her family, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She left a bit of her good soul with anyone that met her. Sally was born October 9, 2017, in Sunbury, Pennsylvania. When she was 13, at the beginning of the Great Depression, she lost her father to pneumonia and her mother to cancer.

She then lived with her Aunt, worked, and eventually completed nursing school. She would often recall her experiences in Philadelphia and particularly New York City.  She joined the Army and served as a nurse in the Philippines at the end of WW2.
