Eugene and Nadine Stegelmeyer Scholarship

For graduating seniors from any Washoe County high school  and current post-secondary or graduate students who plan to pursue teaching and/or geriatric studies. Students may attend any accredited institution—including community colleges, junior colleges, and public or private universities—either in Nevada or out of state.

The deadline to apply via the online application is March 1st.

The Stegelmeyer Scholarship supports students who are pursuing post-secondary and graduate studies in teaching and/or geriatrics.

Eligible applicants for the Eugene and Nadine Stegelmeyer Scholarship are graduating seniors in a Washoe County High School–or students pursuing post-secondary or graduate studies in teaching and/or geriatrics–who will attend teaching and/or geriatric programs through a community or junior college, private school, or accredited college of a university, in or outside of Nevada.

You are eligible to apply for this scholarship if you:

  • are a Washoe County High School graduate or graduating senior
  • are interested in the field of education or geriatrics as a career
  • have a minimum high school GPA of 3.0
  • have a minimum 1050 SAT or 18 ACT (if still in high school)
  • agree to maintain a minimum 2.5 grade point average and provide a copy of your unofficial transcripts at the end of each semester you are receiving a scholarship

You will need to upload the following documents with your application:

  • Transcript
  • SAT or ACT score report (if you are still in high school)
  • Resume
  • One letter of recommendation from a teacher
  • Essay on why you are interested in teaching or why you are interested in geriatrics

Gene and Nadine were serious travelers—they spent months and months traveling in Europe, Alaska, the United States, South America, and New Zealand. They were passionate about education and established this scholarship to ensure students with similar passions would be able to achieve their dreams.
