You'N-I Update

Last Tuesday night more than 160 people, including 50+ struggling youth, gathered at the Boys & Girls Club of Truckee Meadows to discuss helping homeless and runaway youth and aging-out foster youth. For a terrific summary of the event as well as photos, check out the report Margaret Stewart, our Communications Director, put together on our website. Here is the link: http://nevadafund.org/youn-i-held-1st-community-wide-convening/ You can also follow this initiative by liking the Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/YouthNetworkInitiative?ref=stream As we broaden our communication with the community, and particularly with youth, I’m embracing social networking. I’ve started tweeting and will share quick notes about our initiatives and other philanthropic items of importance. I can be followed at @chrisaskin2. Most importantly, the 2014 Homeless Youth Point In Time Count is coming up, and they could use some volunteers.   Taking place at the West Street Plaza in downtown Reno, it starts at 12:01 a.m.on January 30th and ends at 11:59 p.m., so it is a full 24-hour count. Coordinated by Nevada Youth Empowerment Project and Build Our Center, they need donations including toiletries, food, clothing, sleeping bags, and other living supplies.
