Village on Sage Street Rental Application List Open

The Village on Sage is a dorm-style community for 200 people living on low-incomes, being built by a partnership with private donors, construction companies the City of Reno, Volunteers of America and the Community Foundation. We plan to have it ready for occupancy by the end of November. We get calls from interested people asking how they can get on the waiting list for occupancy. Two of the callers give a vivid picture of the importance of this housing option. Jeremy called looking for information after he saw it featured on the local news. He works full-time for $12.00 an hour and has been looking for months for an affordable apartment in Reno. There are just too few to be had. He put himself on the list as soon as it opened.Ralph, age 70 heard about the Village on Sage Street from a friend. He walked down to the construction site and looked at the site plans and the Village concept rendering signs attached to the perimeter fence. He now lives in a nearby weekly motel and his landlord told him the rent will rise at the end of the year. He was relieved to find out that the minimum required monthly income is $1,300 as that is exactly what he has.
