THANK YOU for Supporting Streetsmart 4 Youth during October

Diners who added a dollar or more to their checks at participating restaurants raised a total of more than $5,000 to Streetsmart 4 Youth to help youth who are homeless or on their own in our community. The Community Foundation will grant the proceeds evenly between The Ridge House, Planned Parenthood Mar Monte, WCSD Children in Transition, and the Eddy House YOUth Resource Center. As we have seen during the last two years with Streetsmart 4 Youth, significant media attention has been brought to the issue of youth homelessness. At the beginning of our program this year, Streetsmart 4 Youth was featured on KRNV 4 and KOLO 8. A segment about the program was also aired on a This Is Reno podcast and postings were made on Facebook and the Community Foundation website throughout the month. This outreach helps bring awareness to more members of our community. More so than just raising funds, the Streetsmart 4 Youth program is in place to get the community involved in addressing the issue of youth homelessness.
