Start the Year Strong with a Shared Sense of Purpose
What do you want for your hometown in 2015? Northern Nevada has been basking in great news for much of 2014. All of us at the Community Foundation of Western Nevada are very excited about 2015 and are looking forward to helping you to help our community. The donors, professional advisors, charities, and leaders that give to the community through the Foundation have great plans and expectations for 2015. We are privileged to be a part of the impact that they… that YOU… have on the lives of people. Our parents, children, pets, friends and neighbors, relatives and strangers, all benefit from the good works that you do. So in 2015 we’re gearing up to be sure your vision of a growing, thriving, and quality community becomes our shared reality. Start off the year strong with new cooperative efforts, with great energy, and filled with purpose. The amazing economic opportunities we’re seeing through the efforts of EDAWN, the State of Nevada, and others will take hold in 2015 and lead to even greater opportunities for employment and community improvement. The focus the City of Reno and the University of Nevada have put on Reno as a college town is also taking hold, along with the downtown improvements to Midtown, the 4th Street corridor, and the growing “districts.” These are exciting developments that are building our economy. Take a moment and read Phil Satre's Keynote Speech given at the Foundation Annual Meeting in September. With these developments, the Community Foundation of Western Nevada, your Community Foundation, has big plans. We are moving our offices downtown and finding new ways to engage the community and philanthropy in actions that result in sustainable change and improvements. The Community Foundation is beefing up our staff so that we can meet with all of you who wish to become part of this movement to give back to our community in powerful ways. 2015 is here. It is a new day. Let's make 2015 a year of transformation in ourselves, in our families, and in our community. Please give me a call or suggest the Foundation to a friend who would like to give back to our community. We connect people who care with causes that matter. Chris Askin, President & CEO
