Springmeyer Charitable Endowment and Crone's Coin Fund Aid Senior Women
Two funds with two different approaches to helping seniors live in their own homes as long a possible are the Springmeyer Charitable Endowment and the Crone's Coin fund.
Crone's Coins helps low-income senior women live in their own homes by paying for one-time repairs such as fixing a leaky roof, shoring up broken steps, or modifying the home to make it accommodate a senior's mobility issues. Grant applicants are referred to the fund by Washoe County Senior Services. For information please call Washoe Senior Services and ask about the Crone's Coin fund application.
The Springmeyer Charitable Endowment strives to help seniors with dementia in Carson City. The last two years the fund has made grants to the Alzheimer's Association to support seniors in Carson City. Alzheimer's Association offers evidence-based education programs that increase the effectiveness of care and decrease stress. Regular support group meetings are proven to increase well-being and positively impact health outcomes for both the person living with dementia and their caregiver. In addition, the Alzheimer’s Association provides support 24 hours a day, seven days a week, through a toll-free Helpline. When caregivers call this number, they can get the advice and support they need to overcome the obstacles they face in keeping their loved one at home.
