Disaster Relief - Ways to Help Support Turkey and Syria (February 2023)

Earthquake in Syria Jan 2023

Support for Turkey & Syria

Here are a few organizations providing emergency response efforts to those affected most.

CARE- Turkey Syria Earthquakes Fund

Early indications are that CARE is providing cash assistance, food, hygiene kits, and arrival kits to support those that have been displaced, access to shelters and winterization activities, and providing help to remove rubble. We are also in conversations with the Turkish Disaster and Emergency Management Presidency in Turkey [AFAD], the UN and other agencies to provide support to deliver essential supplies.

Syrian American Medical Society- Earthquake Relief Syria

Donations will help purchase trauma supplies and continue to provide emergency aid to their patients.

International Rescue Committee

Gifts will help provide emergency services to families in Turkey and Syria and refugee families in countries around the world.

Center for Disaster Philanthropy- Turkey & Syria Earthquake Recovery Fund

Gifts provide targeted grantmaking that prioritizes needs identified in collaboration with local partners.

UNHCR is currently in Turkey and Syria, providing high thermal blankets, mattresses, kitchen sets, plastic sheeting, jerry cans, sleeping mats, winter clothing kits, and winter jackets.

UNICEF has mobilized aid to Syria and is focusing on assessing the impact the quake had on water stations and any other interruptions to services. It is also assessing the damages schools face. UNICEF said another priority is helping unaccompanied children find their families.

Direct Relief- Turkey-Syria Earthquake Relief

To help meet the urgent needs on the ground, Direct Relief is preparing more than 25 pallets of medical supplies from its facilities in the US and Europe for Turkey and Syria. 100% of all donations for the Turkey-Syria Earthquake are used solely on expenses related to supporting that response.
