Corporate Philanthropy Supports Community Foundation Initiatives
Corporations have not historically been big contributors to the Community Foundation of Western Nevada. That changed in 2017 with the launch of the Corporate Philanthropy Partners Program.
Thousands of people in our region are benefitting from new initiatives, outreach, and services thanks to the vision and generosity of 15 local companies who partner with the Community Foundation.
The Caregiver Support Initiative, the Housing Land Trust, which is building the Village on Sage Street for 224 low-income individuals, our ongoing and growing body of work to support youth experiencing homelessness, and educational programs to help nonprofits grow, would not be possible without corporate support.
It gives me great pleasure to sing the praises of our Corporate Philanthropy Partners. The Community Foundation had the experience, connections, and ability to increase impact and community engagement, but we did not have the capacity. The Corporate Philanthropy Partners gave the Community Foundation that gift of capacity. We now have two full-time staff members working on community leadership and engagement and continue to grow and expand our efforts.

For those of us who live, work, and play here, being a part of a business that gives back to our community has become increasingly important. Being involved as part of a structured, organized effort to bring about substantial, measurable, and visible improvements in the community, can build terrific loyalty and pride in its employees. Customers find buying services and products from a company that supports the local community is more satisfying.
The Community Foundation reached out to several dozen companies about this opportunity and we have been gratified by their deep commitment to the community. Please join me in celebrating our 15 partners (one is so humble they are silent).
Our partners are Atlantis Casino Resort Spa, Barrick, Charles Schwab Bank, Chase International, Dickson Realty, EDAWN (Economic Development Agency of Western Nevada), International Test Solutions, JP Morgan Chase, KNPB, Nature’s Bakery, NV Energy, Raley’s, Renown, and Wells Fargo.
The Corporate Philanthropy Partnership has room for nine more corporations. Are you involved with a business that gives back to the community? Are you interested in learning more about Corporate Philanthropy Partners? Please give me a call at 775-333-5499 or email me at caskin@nevadafund.org.
