This week Community Matters features include Community Development organizations.
One of the sobering revelations of the pandemic is how we all play a role in our community. Health care workers, grocery store workers, first responders, and employees of essential businesses are our heroes.
Additionally, community development organizations work toward increasing the quality of life in our region. The Community Foundation's most significant community development work has been the Village on Sage Street – transforming a lot for old equipment into an affordable neighborhood for people who are working but struggling to afford rent.
Reading the nonprofit survey responses you will learn, about how the Northern Nevada Literacy Council continues providing Adult Basic Education classes, how the Rural Nevada Development Corporation is helping small businesses and homeowners, and how the Rotary Club of Elko Desert Sunrise has volunteers eager to help.
