It’s 2018, and we have MUCH to Celebrate
Turning 21 is a real coming-of-age in American culture. We probably all remember how we spent that day and night of our 21st birthday. Does anybody remember turning 20?
The Community Foundation of Western Nevada will turn 20 on Friday, February 23, 2018.
This 20th birthday will be memorable. We have reached a real milestone and I’m so very proud to have been associated with the more than 80 community members who have served on our board, and staff who have worked to make the Community Foundation what it is today.
The real heroes are the generous donors in our community, who, through the Community Foundation, have granted more than $109 million. As we are working to finalize the books for 2017, we learned that the assets at the Community Foundation now exceed $100 million!
I realize I am likely letting the cat out of the bag giving you the exclusive scoop about our anniversary and our growth, but as you have opened this email you deserve to know before anyone else. I thank you for your support of the Community Foundation and look forward to the next 20 years. Together we will watch the amazing philanthropy, and impact, made possible by the generous people in the region.
Happy birthday everyone!

PS – For fun, I looked up what else happened 20 years ago on February 23rd, and apparently that is the day the Howard Stern Radio Show premiered. I wish I hadn’t because now I will never be able to get that out of my head.
