Powerful things happen when we work together.
Established in 1998 as a Nevada nonprofit 501(c) 3 Corporation, the Community Foundation of Western Nevada has distributed more than $115 million in grants and scholarships from 240 charitable funds to strengthen our Nevada home. The Community Foundation serves as a community leader, permanent charitable resource, and a philanthropic advisor in charitable giving.
The Community Foundation of Western Nevada Mission
To strengthen our community through philanthropy and leadership
by connecting people who care with causes that matter.
Work with Charitable Giving Experts.
We encourage you to make philanthropy an important and meaningful part of your life, and if you wish, involve generations of your family.
People come to us to make their charitable giving more efficient and more powerful. We offer personalized philanthropic advising service that helps you accomplish your charitable goals. The Community Foundation makes it possible for you to give a wide variety of assets to create or add to your charitable funds. Our expert gift planning team make giving complicated gifts like business interests and property as simple as possible. You can be sure your donation will receive maximum tax advantages. The Community Foundation also serves as a resource for local nonprofit organizations, helping them build their endowments and get the support they need.
Make the Most of your Philanthropy with Granting Expertise and Reseach for Maximum Impact.
We work with open hearts and open minds to create a warm, inviting, and transformation experience for our fundholders and the people they touch with their grants.
You can support any nonprofit organization within our northern Nevada region, the nation or throughout the world. We can help you focus on your personal charitable passions whatever they may be.
Community Engagement Combined with Philanthropy is Key to Making a Difference.
We invest in the long-term and bring people and organizations together, to learn about local issues and opportunities. Your Community Foundation charitable fund fees support community-wide projects and initiatives. We are working in partnership with community leaders to build the affordable workforce housing complex, Village on Sage Street that will offer dorm-style housing to 227 people. The Community Housing Land Trust receives property to be turned into affordable housing for our residents who most need it. Are you interested in putting your charitable assets to work doing good as they grow? You are encouraged to designate part of your charitable fund investments to our Impact Investing program. In 2017, the Community Foundation Impact Investing program helped finance an apartment complex in Reno for 47 low-income people with a preference for veterans. More investments in our region are planned in 2019. From addressing the needs of homeless youth through the Youth Network Initiative, offering resources to family caregivers, hosting free estate planning seminars at the public library, to teaching high school students about philanthropy in the High School Giving Circle, we engage citizens in pressing community issues.
