Powerful things happen when we work together.
Established in 1998 as a Nevada nonprofit 501(c) 3 Corporation, the Community Foundation of Western Nevada has distributed more than $130 million in grants and scholarships from 240 charitable funds to strengthen our Nevada home.
Launched in 2019 the Community Endowment is an unending permanent charitable resource for Nevada. Gifts of all sizes are pooled and invested to address wide-spread community challenges and emergency relief for generations to come. The Community Foundation serves as a community leader, permanent charitable resource, and a philanthropic advisor in charitable giving.
The Community Foundation of Western Nevada Mission
To strengthen our community through philanthropy and leadership by connecting people who care with causes that matter.
Work with Charitable Giving Experts.
We encourage you to make philanthropy an important and meaningful part of your life, and if you wish, involve generations of your family.
People come to us to make their charitable giving more efficient and more powerful. We will meet complex needs and offer personalized philanthropic advising services. Our expert gift planning team makes giving complicated gifts like business interests and property as simple as possible.
Your charitable fund is a way to give back to the community you love, places and people you treasure – in your backyard or across the globe.
Community Engagement Combined with Philanthropy is Key to Making a Difference.
Giving through the Community Foundation leverages philanthropy and leadership. We are working in partnership with community leaders to build the affordable workforce housing complex, Village on Sage Street that offers dorm-style housing to 216 people. The Community Housing Land Trust receives property to be turned into affordable housing for our residents who most need it.
Are you interested in putting your charitable assets to work doing good as they grow? You are encouraged to designate part of your charitable fund investments to our Impact Investing program. In 2017, the Community Foundation Impact Investing program helped finance an apartment complex in Reno for 47 low-income people with a preference for veterans. A similar investment in Sparks happened in 2019.
From addressing the needs of homeless youth through the Youth Network Initiative, offering resources to family caregivers, hosting free estate planning seminars at the public library, to teaching high school students about philanthropy in the High School Giving Circle, we engage citizens in pressing community issues.
