Peggy Bowker Memorial Scholarship in Engineering
The Peggy Bowker Women in Engineering Scholarship was created in memory of Peggy Bowker by those who love her.
Applications are due March 18.
To be eligible for the Bowker Women in Engineering Scholarship, applicants must be female and currently enrolled at the University of Nevada, Reno, pursuing an engineering degree. Applicants show a high aptitude in science and math and must agree to carry a minimum of 12 units per semester in college. Transcripts must also show that the applicant is on track for an engineering degree. Financial need is considered.
Priority will be given to applicants from the state of Nevada. This scholarship is renewable with reapplication.
The Peggy Bowker Women in Engineering Scholarship was created in memory of Peggy Bowker by those who love her. Peggy graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Nevada, Reno in 1978 and had the distinction of being the first licensed female civil engineer in the state of Nevada; an accomplishment that was very much in keeping with the drive and determination she demonstrated in all facets of her life.
This scholarship was established in Peggy’s memory and is designed to carry on her legacy of helping women break the “glass ceiling” and open doors for women following.
