Washoe County Launches Behavioral Health Fund

Washoe County has recently launched a new community fund aimed at supporting regional behavioral health initiatives. This fund, known as the Regional Behavioral Health Initiatives Fund, is managed by the Community Foundation of Northern Nevada and is designed to provide financial backing for collaborative efforts between public and private partners. The fund addresses critical issues such as mental health and substance use disorders, which are significant contributors to homelessness, chronic health problems, and law enforcement challenges in the community. The initiative has already garnered substantial support from various organizations, both private and public.
The first project under this initiative is the development of a Regional Crisis Response System, which aims to provide comprehensive crisis support through a dedicated call system, immediate response teams, and safe spaces for those in need.
The Community of Northern Nevada is deeply grateful to be involved in this vital work. “Powerful things happen when we work together,” Eaton Dunkleberger, CEO of Community Foundation of Northern Nevada, said. “We are honored to provide our expertise to steward donations and maintain donor engagement and trust for this important initiative.”
