Washoe Caregivers Evaluation

November 2018 Update

"From caring comes courage." - Lao Tzu
Washoe Caregivers Evaluation   During the fall of 2016, approximately 150 people participated in community convenings for the Caregiver Support Initiative. 89 of the participants were current or former family caregivers to seniors. Caregivers shared it was difficult to find caregiving resources and many people entered caregiving unexpectedly, unaware of how to get started as a caregiver. Upon hearing this feedback, we created WashoeCaregivers.org and the Washoe Caregivers Guidebook. Since then, we have distributed more than 10,000 guidebooks at over 100 locations in our community and 115 people visit WashoeCaregiver.org on average each month. We are now evaluating our work and we need your help! The Community Foundation has created a brief survey to determine what we are doing well and what we need to improve. Please complete our survey at: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/WashoeCaregivers. Your feedback will help us better serve caregivers in our community. Thank you for your continued dedication to our community and its caregivers! Recognizing When You Need a Break - Blog  Needing a break from any task performed regularly is normal, and caregiving is no different. Mary Brock of Seniors In Service penned this month's blog, which looks into respite care and recognizing when you need a break. You can read more about respite and needing a break at http://washoecaregivers.org/recognizing-when-you-need-a-break/. Are there caregiving topics you would love to see covered? Reach out to us at  NTsheekar@nevadafund.org with your suggestions! Thank you for your involvement in the Caregiver Support Initiative.
