Teresa Mentzer Shines in the Board Spotlight
Teresa Mentzer, Vice-Chair of the Board of Trustees, embodies the core attributes of the Community Foundation. She cares, she connects, and as anybody who has shared a room with her knows, she engages. Not afraid to speak from her heart she inspires the staff to work with our whole heart for the good of the community. She brought down the house at the Campaign for Our Community Launch party in April. Teresa is a retired businesswoman and former owner of Mentzer Insurance. Her community connections and business experience are invaluable to the Community Foundation.
"My husband, Stan Mentzer and I wanted to be part of something greater than ourselves and the Community Foundation's collaborative leadership in solving pressing community issues was exactly what we were looking for."
Here are some fun facts she shared with us: At the age of 55, My husband Stan, myself and friends hiked up Half Dome at Yosemite National Park. In 1992 – my neighbor and friend, Connie Steinheimer asked me to be her campaign manager for her campaign as District Court Judge. She won that year by less than 800 votes. As a young girl, my sister, Rosemary, myself, cousins, and friends performed traditional Mexican Dances at the Guadalupe Center in Kansas City to raise funds for the after-school program in the 1960s.
