I'm sure I don't say it enough, but I am very proud of every individual on our team.
As we celebrate tenures of 3, 7, 9, and 20 years by many staff, it is clear that a group of experts work to serve you. The Community Foundation staff is highly educated. Every employee has earned a four-year degree, two earned master's degrees, and two are CPA's. As you would expect, we approach our job thoughtfully, and reading books or articles, attending seminars, and pursuing continuing education is a regular part of our weekly regime. I think it is fair to say that you won't find a more friendly, more caring, or considerate group anywhere.
As have all of us, the Community Foundation team has struggled personally and professionally with the challenges of COVID-19 this year. I again found myself so proud of all of them as they rise to meet the challenge. Our dedication to doing as much or more for our fundholders, donors, and the community is a strong motivator.
This coming Monday and Tuesday, as a way to connect with our peers, increase our skills, and participate in thoughtful discussions, we will be attending the 2020 Annual National Conference for Growing Community Foundations.
I am thankful to the Community Foundations in Kansas for hosting and coordinating. The Conference may be virtual, but we will be making the most of it.
We've set up the office in distant spaces with screens for breakout sessions and have arranged for the usual overabundance of food and snacks. I am encouraging everyone (including myself) to resist working in our offices on our computers so we can enjoy the break in routine that a conference brings and focus on participating. Learning and interacting with our colleagues throughout the country is an experience that the Community Foundation of Western Nevada team certainly deserves. Even though I will miss the travel and excitement of mingling in person with peers, I must admit I'm excited.
Please know that our most exciting moment is when you call to talk about your charitable goals or your client's philanthropy. As Marie Kondo would say, you need to know what brings you joy, and it is you, and all you do, that truly brings the most joy to us.

Connecting people who care with causes that matter.
P.S. Good News this year!- We have processed nearly $10 million in grants and scholarships!
- Six new generous estate/legacy arrangements are in place. It is gratifying to work with donors on these visionary and significant future gift arrangements.
- Our Community Engagement staff has taken giant leaps in their work to help people in the community through increased impact.
The word that comes to mind is action. The Community Foundation team, including our board, prioritizes action.
