Forward-thinking people in Gardnerville and Minden are bringing something big to Douglas County.
Chris Askin and Lyndsey Crossley of the Community Foundation met yesterday with Devere Dressler, longtime Gardnerville rancher and member of the Community Foundation of Western Nevada Board, Connie Billington from the Family Support Council, and Cassandra Jones, Managing Attorney of Heritage Law Group to discuss forming the Community Foundation of Douglas County.
When established it will be a permanent charitable resource dedicated to the needs of Douglas County residents. The Community Foundation of Douglas County will serve as a charitable pocket for residents' estate gifts to benefit the communities of Minden and Gardnerville and community organizations they love. Gifts of any size are combined and invested to generate income that will be used to benefit Douglas County annually.
This small group of enthusiastic supporters is recruiting additional interested volunteers to serve on the Fund Advisory committee. The Fund Advisory Committee first meeting will be in April.
