Eaton Dunkelberger is the President & CEO of the Community Foundation of Northern Nevada. Before joining the Community Foundation, Eaton was the CEO of Sierra Nevada Journeys, an outdoor education nonprofit serving 35,000+ students across northern Nevada and California annually, with a primary focus of serving youth from underserved communities. Prior to this, Eaton was a member of the leadership team for a healthcare IT startup incubated by McKesson Corporation, which grew to more than 300 employees over 5 years. Prior to McKesson, Eaton started two businesses in Kabul, Afghanistan, providing outsourced recruiting for companies (like Coca Cola Bottling and Serena Hotels) and government agencies (like the UN and US Military) to implement successful Afghan hiring programs.
Eaton is a USMC veteran and served as an Infantry Platoon Commander in Iraq in 2003. He earned an MBA at London Business School, BS in Biology from Stanford University, and was a researcher at the Brookings Institute. Eaton is the volunteer lead for the 6-7 year old ski program at Sky Tavern, a nonprofit ski and snowboarding learning program. Eaton lives in Reno, NV with his wife Kate, and children, Pete and Alice. Eaton and Kate are proud to have established a Donor Advised Fund with the Community Foundation focused on creating experiential education opportunities for youth from historically marginalized communities.
