Bees4Vets received 2018 Community Fund Grant
Bees4Vets is a small nonprofit that assists military veterans impacted by PTSD through vocational beekeeping experiences.
By combining outdoor activity, education and community outreach they create an environment of support and training. Working bees requires that you be conscious and “in the moment”. Honey bees will quickly remind someone who has drifted mentally to other thoughts or stress. Working the hives can be relaxing and harvesting honey from the bees can provide extra income as can raising bees for sale to the beekeeping community. Students in their first year of this “hands-on” program receive personalized instruction with direct supervision while working with the bees. Each student will have 2 hives to manage and take care of. Students may help build the hive equipment they will use in the field. < Back to community fund grants
