From Vision to Legacy: Community Foundation of Elko County Celebrates Growth and New Leadership
Proudly serving as our first affiliate fund, the Community Foundation of Elko County represents a lasting commitment by local residents who have joined together to create an endowment that will benefit their community for generations to come. Affiliate funds are endowments established by the residents of a community for the express benefit of that community – forever. When the Community Foundation of Elko County first launched in 2015, the fund advisory committee began their campaign to secure legacy gifts through planned giving. Legacy Gifts help ensure the growth of the Community Foundation of Elko County Endowed Fund at no cost to the donor during their lifetime and make a lasting impact upon the gift being realized.
In 2017, an anonymous donor designated the Community Foundation of Elko County as the beneficiary of their IRA. This generous individual was a 3rd generation Elko native who learned the value of charitable giving through their parents. It was important to them to give back to the community they grew up in, and upon their passing in 2023, a gift of $94,000 was made to benefit the Community Foundation of Elko County.
The Fund Advisory Committee is responsible for stewarding these funds on behalf of the donor. The Advisory Committee serves as champions of the Community Foundation of Elko County to help secure additional giving. They also serve as the advisory committee, assessing community needs and opportunities, and determining grant and program priorities for the Community Foundation of Elko County Endowed Fund’s competitive grant cycle.
We are pleased to announce our new committee members (pictured left to right): AJ Hull (Chair), Teri Gage, Katie Neddenriep, Jody Borjas, and Jearred Foruria. Each of these individuals donate their time, treasure, and talent for the benefit of Elko County and we are grateful for their dedication and philanthropic partnership.
