Don’t Be Left Out.
Over the past decade, more than 1,100 people in our community have attended the free Family Estate Planning classes offered through a collaboration of the Community Foundation of Western Nevada, KNPB, and a dozen local charities. The classes introduce you to ideas, methods, and strategies that are not well known or understood, and they do so in a safe environment.
Don’t think anyone is trying to sell you anything through this series. These classes are a community service that has been consistently evaluated as “5 star” by participants. You learn from top professionals who volunteer their time to teach these classes. You also receive a workbook and materials that help you organize your financial and estate records, to save you time and cost when you put together your plan with your attorney.
The series is taught by area experts (including Jason Morris, with Woodburn and Wedge, pictured above) who meet the fiduciary standard for always putting your interests first. Classes cover the estate planning, wills, probate and trusts, responsibilities of fiduciaries, executors and successor trustees, gift, estate, and transfer taxes, powers of attorney, health care directives, Medicaid and we’ve also added a new section on estate planning for digital assets and planned giving.
You will not be solicited for donations.
There is no cost, and we offer morning and afternoon classes to make it convenient for you.
The Family Estate Planning Series begins on March 28th and runs for eight weeks. Every Wednesday the same class will be offered at two times, both held at the Sierra View Library (Reno Town Mall) 4001 Virginia St. Reno. The 90-minute classes commence at 10:30 am and at 1:30 pm.
The series nonprofit sponsors include the SPCA, Girl Scouts of the Sierra Nevada, The Children’s Cabinet, Renown Health Foundation, Boys & Girls Club of the Truckee Meadows, American Heart Association, KUNR Radio, Nevada Land Trust, Food Bank of Northern Nevada, Truckee Meadows Community College Foundation, United Way of Northern Nevada and the Sierra, and Nevada Women’s Fund, and are hosted by the Washoe County Library.

We are very pleased to provide this resource to the people in our community and hope you take advantage of this opportunity. The Family Estate Planning Series is one way we connect people who care with causes that matter.
