Truckee River Fund Grants to Focus on Improving Urban River Corridor

Reno, Nev - The Truckee River Fund at the Community Foundation of Western Nevada has released a Request for Proposals to improve the water quality of the Urban Truckee River Corridor.  The fund has $200,000 to grant to nonprofit, educational and governmental agencies during the spring 2020 grant cycle. The Truckee River Fund Advisory Committee explains, “As a result of the tours we completed of the urban Truckee River corridor, along with observations we have made regarding state, county, and public officials comments about the need to improve the Truckee River corridor and its associated homeless problems, we suggest to potential spring 2020 grantee organizations that they consider projects that will address this focus.” Projects must begin within 180 days of the award. Applying organizations must have a 25% match for the grant funds requested. Grants selected by the nine-member Truckee River Fund Advisory Committee are then taken to the TMWA Board of Directors at a public meeting for final approval. The full Request for Proposal (RFP) and application is available on the Community Foundation of Western Nevada website, nevadafund.org/nonprofits/request-for-proposals/ Proposals must be submitted by Friday, February 7, 2020, at noon, and can be sent to Lauren Renda at lrenda@nevadafund.org. The Truckee River Fund began granting in January 2006. Since then, more than $13.4 million was granted through spring and fall grant cycles. When combined with leveraged match money, support totals more $23 million to projects that protect and enhance the water quality or water resources of the Truckee River, or its watershed.
