Jamie has been in Reno since 2000 and has more than 35 years of experience in higher education public relations and retail marketing.
Jamie worked in major college athletics including from 2000-2006 as Director of Media Services for the University of Nevada, winning a Silver Spike Award from the Public Relations Society of America, Northern Nevada Chapter, for leading a publicity campaign for the Wolf Pack’s first Sweet 16 appearance in 2004.
Prior to coming to Reno, he worked as associate director of media services for University of Oregon athletics, helping publicize the Ducks in their first Rose Bowl appearance in over 30 years and promoting multiple NCAA appearances for the men’s basketball program. He also served as media director for the NCAA Women’s Golf Championships and served as assistant media director for several NCAA Track and Field Championships.
From 2009 to early 2018, he served as marketing manager for the Reno Cabela’s store. Among his accomplishments were initiating a community outreach program with area middle schools, teaching 8th and 9th graders basic outdoor skills such as archery, fishing, fly tying, wildlife identification and game calls as well as creating several scout outreach events at the store for Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts.
He enjoys helping our community through Community Foundation development work. He has been active in community service since college as a blood donor and more recently as a volunteer for Keep Truckee Meadows and as President of the Reno Blues Society.
Jamie has two grown sons, one living and working in Reno and the other in upper division business classes at the University of Nevada. He enjoys attending local and area special events, listening to live music, skiing and working out.
