Bonnie is a native of Reno and a fourth generation Nevadan who attended Brown Elementary and Pine Middle School.  She was active in school activities such as debate, academic Olympics, swimming, and water polo while at Wooster High School.

She then went on to obtain dual degrees (cum laude) in Finance and International Management from Georgetown University in Washington, D.C. and a law degree (cum laude) from the University of Notre Dame.  Bonnie was actively involved in the Georgetown and Notre Dame communities while she was a student and participates in alumni activities for both of her alma maters.

Bonnie was admitted to the Nevada Bar in 1994 and soon became a partner at one of Reno’s largest law firms.  After her first child was born, Bonnie made a lifestyle choice and decided to start her own boutique law practice, Drinkwater Law Offices.  She practices in the areas of business and corporate law, employment law, and intellectual property law, and her firm prides itself in servicing its clients with excellent customer service and straight-forward communication. Drinkwater Law Offices’ attorneys and staff endeavor to provide clients with prompt, efficient and cost-effective service in even the most complicated matters. They also tailor their approach to address the practical goals and concerns of clients and finding the fastest and least expensive resolution to a problem.

Bonnie is an active member of the community. Her activities range from supporting several local charter schools to assisting victims of domestic violence and improving the quality of life in our community. She is the Chair of the Advisory Board for the Nevada Small Business Development Center and a board member for United Way.  She is a former board member of Safe Kids of Washoe County, Truckee Meadows Tomorrow, the Food Bank of Northern Nevada, the American Red Cross and others.  Bonnie is also an active mentor for kids involved in Silver State Young Chautauqua and the Girls Scouts and has been a mentor for her mentee for more than 20 years.  Her firm has received several awards for volunteerism including three awards from the Washoe County Bar Association for exceptional pro bono efforts. She welcomes the opportunity to educate others in her areas of expertise through speaking engagements, training sessions and writing articles.

In her very limited spare time, Bonnie enjoys spending time with her family, traveling, photography, and scrapbooking.
