Causes that Matter

Community Foundation grants are more than just checks, they are the connecting fibers that stretch across history so that a visionary donor of yesterday is protecting open space, caring for homeless pets, or providing food, shelter, or health care for a Nevadan today.

Grant Opportunities and News

If you are a nonprofit in northern Nevada the best way to stay informed about occasional grant opportunities and granting news is to subscribe to our monthly e-news, Community Matters through the Stay in Touch link at the bottom of the page.

Donor Advised Fund Grants

The Community Foundation serves many generous individuals and families who manage their charitable giving through donor advised funds. Grants from these funds are made at the donor's recommendation, supporting their own philanthropic causes.

Usually, there is no application process, and donor advised funds are not open to unsolicited requests for funding. Occasionally a fund will offer an RFP and we will publish on this website, email to our nonprofit database and publish a notice in the monthly e-news, Community Matters. Subscribe to Community Matters to keep up on the activities and grants at the Community Foundation.

Nonprofit Connections

Fundholders and community members like to learn which nonprofits are working in the areas of their charitable interest.  Add your website and your organization's 3 current funding priorities on Nonprofit Connections so potential donors can find you. It is easy to sign up. Call Program Officers Lyndsey Crossley or Lauren Renda at 775-333-5499 and they will walk you through the simple process. The items we request as part of our due diligence process before organizations are listed on the Nonprofit Connections section of the website are as follows:

  • Most Recent 990 Form
  • IRS determination letter
  • Articles of Incorporation
  • List of current Board members
  • Current Budget with Actuals

Using the template we provide below, create a Funding Priorities landing page on your website - Please use this template. Our donors asked that pages be consistent and direct in how they present this information.

  • Make the page look like your website.
  • Send us the link to the page so we can put it on our page
  • Tell us under which (max of 3) categories on our website you want your organization listed.

We ask that you please keep this page up to date with any changes to funding priorities, programs or services, or changes in staff as we strive to ensure we are providing interested parties and potential donors the most up to date information possible.
