Causes that Matter.
How we work together to strengthen our region.
You can create a nonprofit fund with the Community Foundation of Western Nevada. We will manage your assets and reserves to ensure that you continue to serve our region for years to come. Our investment capabilities give you access to world-class financial and investing expertise that otherwise might be unavailable.
The Community Foundation is proud to work with local nonprofits and offer our planned giving expertise. One way we do this is by working in partnership with a nonprofit that has a donor interested in setting up a Charitable Gift Annuity (CGA) to benefit the organization’s endowment fund at the Community Foundation. We will help your organization set up one of these vehicles free of charge.
Advantages of working with the Community Foundation of Western Nevada:
Risk is dispersed in a pool of multiple contracts.
- We are available to educate your board, staff and donors about CGAs.
Contact Ginny Harding-Davis, Chief Advancement Officer at 775-333-5499 to talk with her about opening a nonprofit endowment or to meet with your donors about establishing a CGA to benefit your organization’s endowment at the Community Foundation.
Donor Advised Fund Grants
As a community foundation, the majority of our grants are recommended by Donor Advisors. We do not accept unsolicited grant applications for donor advised funds. Occasionally a fund will offer an RFP and we will publish on this website, email to our nonprofit database and publish a notice in the monthly e-news, Community Matters. Subscribe to Community Matters to keep up on the activities and grants at the Community Foundation.
Fundholders and community members like to learn which nonprofits are working in the areas of their charitable interest. Add your website and your organization’s 3 current funding priorities on Nonprofit Connections so potential donors can find you.
It is easy to sign up. Call Prograrm Officers Lyndsey Crossley or Lauren Renda at 775-333-5499 and they will walk you through the simple process.
The items we request as part of our due diligence process before organizations are listed on the Nonprofit Connections section of the website are as follows:
- Most Recent 990 Form
- IRS determination letter
- Articles of Incorporation
- List of current Board members
- Current Budget with Actuals
Using the template we provide, create a Funding Priorities landing page on your website – Please use this template. Our donors asked that pages be consistent and direct in how they present this information.
- Make the page look like your website.
- Send us the link to the page so we can put it on our page
- Tell us under which (max of 3) categories on our website you want your organization listed.
We ask that you please keep this page up to date with any changes to funding priorities, programs or services, or changes in staff as we strive to ensure we are providing interested parties and potential donors the most up to date information possible.
