John R Stockman Scholarship

For a graduating senior from high school or home school in Washoe, Douglas, Carson City, Storey, Lyon, and Churchill counties, and South Lake Tahoe High School.

The deadline to apply via the online application is April 30th.

The John R. Stockman Scholarship was created to provide an opportunity for life advancement to an ambitious, driven young person, who may require financial assistance in order to achieve higher education. John Stockman was a selfless leader, and through a commitment to hard work, creativity, honesty, and kindness, John became a recognized leader in the commercial real estate industry.  John faced many educational challenges, but he persevered and by creatively using all of the opportunities available to him, he built a fine life and family. This scholarship was a vision of John’s prior to his passing in 2008. His vision was to provide the gift of education to someone that illustrates a similar passion for selfless leadership. The John R. Stockman Scholarship was created in recognition of his beliefs and to provide an opportunity to further the many deserving scholarship candidate’s education. This scholarship is renewable with reapplication.

You are eligible to apply for this award if you:

  • are a high school senior or home school senior in Washoe, Douglas, Carson City, Storey, Lyon, or Churchill counties, or at South Lake Tahoe High School
  • have a minimum 3.2 cumulative high school GPA
  • have a minimum 1100 SAT or a minimum 22 ACT
  • agree to maintain a minimum 2.5-grade point average and provide a copy of your unofficial transcripts at the end of each semester you are receiving a scholarship

Along with this application, you’ll be required to attach:

  • Transcript
  • SAT and/or ACT score report(s)
  • two letters of recommendation from a teacher, coach, peer, or community member
  • a 1-2 page essay detailing aspirations for college and beyond, and describing how you will support yourself through 4 years of college
  • Financial Aid packet or an offer letter from your chosen school
  • proof of acceptance to a 4-year accredited college or university if you have it
