Community Fund 2019 Grant Cycle Begins

We believe in our ability to come together and meet community challenges head-on.

We believe in the value of investing in the future of our region, through the Community Endowment at the Community Foundation of Western Nevada. The Community Foundation will provide financial resources for our region for years to come via the Community Fund to respond to community needs annually and/or as they arise. The Community Fund is “funded” in two ways: through unrestricted gifts that donors designate to the Community Fund directly, and through income generated from gifts made to the Community Endowment Fund. Whether donors wish to see their gifts used immediately, or they prefer that their gift is endowed to grow and grant annually forever – for future needs, including community emergencies or natural disasters, our community benefits. And who knows our community’s needs better than local nonprofits? From sustaining our natural resources to educating our youth, to providing resources for veterans, there are so many great organizations making change in our community. The 2019 Community Fund Grants cycle is now open through April 21st. Encourage a special local nonprofit to apply for funding between $3,000 and $10,000 for a specific project or program. Proposals will be reviewed by our newly-formed Community Fund Advisory Committee which is made up of community residents and Community Foundation Board and Staff, who will lend their expertise to evaluate the applications we receive. In 2017, $4,200 was granted to 3 organizations and in 2018, 6 organizations were awarded a total of $11,000. We are excited that our third grant cycle from the Community Fund will be substantially increased. As the years pass the Community Endowment will thrive and grow and so will the Community Fund grants. Imagine what we can do together when the annual grants reach $400,000 and more? If you or a client is considering contributing to the Community Endowment or Community Fund please call  775-333-5499 to learn more about it’s important benefits to our region.
