100% Giving Board Award Nominations Due November 1

The 100% Giving Board Award, a Community Foundation award program since 2008, recognizes the personal financial support each board member commits to their nonprofit.

Last year, 1,213 board members from 97 organizations contributed a total of $4,457,381.45 to their organizations for operating expenses. I am pleased to share that Board support rose 60% from 2018's total. To nominate your board, complete the 100% Giving Board Award Form and return to Lauren Renda via email at  lrenda@nevadafund.org no later than Nov. 1, 2020. It is gratifying to see the 100% Giving Board Award woven into the local nonprofit culture. Nonprofit staff members use this award as a tool to have a conversation with their board members about the importance of giving to the organization. We also hear that organizations and their boards have made it a personal commitment to stay on this list year after year.

  • 88% of nonprofits said their organization asked board members for gifts before knowing about the 100% Giving Board Award
  • 80% said the 100% Giving Board Awards make it easier to receive board donations
  • 53% said board giving increased as a result of the 100% Giving Board Award

We appreciate receiving feedback from the nonprofits who receive this recognition; here are some wonderful quotes we received last year:

"We are so pleased to have achieved this level of participation, and it's due, in part, to your community-wide effort each year." – Emelie Melton Williams, Executive Director, CHA Foundation "I am so thankful that you do this each year. It is a wonderful way to remind our board to help support our work financially as well as with their physical endeavors. Thanks to you and the Community Foundation for all that you do!" – Rebecca LeBeau, Executive Director, Child Assault Prevention

The Association of Fundraising Professionals-Sierra Chapter has been an excellent partner and supporter of this award throughout the years.

Each year in November, they host their Annual National Philanthropy Day Luncheon to celebrate philanthropy and recognize that year's recipients of the 100% Giving Board Awards. Recognized organizations receive a certificate to share with their board, with a star for each year, they've received the award. Additionally, organizations are encouraged to proudly display the 100% Giving Board logo on their websites and use it in their communications pieces to highlight their boards' commitment.  Reno Gazette-Journal full-page ad June 2020.

It is our pleasure to share the list of awarded organizations with our donors and fundholders, community leaders, and other grant-making bodies in our area.

We feel the community should know these organizations and their board members are working together for our community.

"Nothing great was ever achieved without enthusiasm."  - Ralph Waldo Emerson

I believe that the enthusiasm of nonprofits serving the community, the enthusiasm of generous donors who help support this work, and the enthusiasm of board members who share and financially support the mission of the nonprofits they serve are essential to effective philanthropy.  To all the organizations and their boards who champion their organizations' cause and mission by making an annual gift- keep up the good work! It is an inspiring example of unwavering board support.

Did 100% of your board make a personal financial gift of any size to your organization in the last year? If so, your organization qualifies for The 100 Percent Club!
