Mary Simmons is a seasoned utility executive who has worked in the utility industry for over 30 years, holding a variety of executive positions. She recently retired as the Vice President, Business Development and Community Strategy with NV Energy, a Berkshire Hathaway Energy (BHE) company. As Vice President, Business Development and Community Strategy, she reported directly to the CEO and President. She previously held the positions of Controller, Vice President of Rates and Regulation, Assistant Treasurer of Shareholder Relations, and Director of Budgets and Financial Services.

Mary served for over 14 years as the Secretary of the NV Energy Charitable Foundation Board of Directors and led key stakeholder engagement, major customer retention, and philanthropic strategy efforts.

Mary is a Certified Public Accountant licensed in the State of Nevada and a member of the American Institute of CPAs. She is also a native Nevadan and a University of Nevada, Reno graduate.

Mary has been married to Reed Simmons for over 40 years. She has been a part of numerous non-profit and other organizations throughout the state including past Chair of the University of Nevada, Reno Foundation, Past Chair of the Reno Chamber of Commerce, Treasurer and Member of the Boards of the Reno-Tahoe Airport Authority and Reno-Sparks Convention and Visitors Authority, Past President of the International Women’s Forum, Nevada, Board Member of the Economic Development Authority of Western Nevada and the Las Vegas Global Economic Authority, and Treasurer and Member of the Great Basin National Park Foundation.
