Following the convening on January 14th we drafted a summary of the discussions and visions from each of the topical discussions as well as a summary of the evaluations of the convening itself. You will find those two documents here for review.
The fourth Steering Committee meeting took place on January 27th.
At this meeting, the committee members reviewed the table notes and visions as well as the evaluations and discussed the pros and cons of the first convening and how we can make future convenings even better. The committees next point of business was to develop action plans as to what needs to happen next. This included setting a date for our next community meeting as well as the formation of subcommittees, each with a direct focus for the next community meeting.
The next convening will be held on March 5th from 5:30pm-8:30pm. We are currently working on setting the location for this meeting and will get that information to you as soon as it has been finalized.
The goal of the next convening is to address the specific needs of the youth and the barriers they face in attempting to meet these needs as well as potential and real threats/risks they face in their attempts.
The second subcommittee’s focus is to update the directory resource that was put together in 2012 by the Reno Area Alliance for the Homeless, making sure all active resources and service providers are listed as well as the details and limitations/restrictions of the services that are currently available. We are working diligently for and with youth so that this process provides support and system improvements as we proceed, not at the end of the process.
