Partnership Grant Match Focused Good Luck Macbeth's Efforts

Was it good luck or good preparation that propelled MidTown theater company, Good Luck Macbeth (GLM) to “overachieve” their Partnership Grant matching funds? Winning a $6,000 Partnership Grant from the Community Foundation, GLM more than matched the grant as they raised a total of $7,035. The small performing arts nonprofit’s brilliant production, “Grounded” resonated with audience members and stirred action among donors. In addition to funding the performance, the Partnership Grant funds helped host a writing workshop by Mark Maynard and a discussion Salon co-hosted by Nevada Humanities regarding veteran’s issues and how the arts can be a haven for healing trauma. It is a daunting task to match a sizable grant, one that GLM took on in strategic moves. The match motivated the GLM 10 board and 3 staff members to phone, email and meet in person with potential donors. By engaging donors in a conversation about the value of GLM, and of the “Grounded” activities they reaffirmed their mission and purpose. They learned from their successes and as well from unsuccessful fundraising attempts, gaining a “stronger footing, and more legitimacy, with building relationships for the future.”
