Ginny Davis brings to the Community Foundation more than three decades of experience in fundraising, marketing, communications and strategic business development. In her most recent role at UC Davis, Ginny served as the senior director of development for the College of Biological Sciences.
Prior to working for UC Davis, Ginny served as Executor Director of Institutional Advancement for Johnson & Wales University, Chief Development Officer for the University of Colorado College of Engineering and Applied Science, was Assistant Dean of Development, College of Humanities, Arts, and Social Sciences, University of California Riverside, and completed a five-year appointment with the United States Olympic Committee as Director of Marketing, Communications and Business Development for USA Water Polo and USA Field Hockey.
Earlier in her career Davis held senior management positions with Anheuser-Busch in Dallas, Texas, including national director for the company’s IronKids Programs. She has also worked or volunteered for a host of worthy causes across the country, including the American Lung Association, women’s resource agencies, LGBT centers and programs, HIV/Aids, children, youth and families, animal advocacy groups, and outdoor education. Dedicated to health and athletic endeavors, Davis founded and produced the first-ever, all women’s bike ride across the country for breast cancer, Pedal for the Cure/America’s Breast Cancer Ride, and personally cycled in the event three times. In addition to saving lives through breast cancer awareness and education, here she was recognized twice with the “Mark of Excellence” Award from the National Public Relations Society of America.
As part of her professional and personal journey, Ginny just completed a “radical sabbatical,” a long-planned and much-anticipated trip around the world with her family. She is thrilled to return to her life’s passions and work in private philanthropy and community leadership with the Community Foundation of Western Nevada. In her role, Davis will oversee the marketing, communications, and development divisions of the Community Foundation.
Ginny spends much of her time with family and friends pursuing outdoor activities, particularly in Lake Tahoe. She volunteers for the PTA and teaches International Cooking at her daughter’s elementary school. She currently serves on the Board of Trustees for the Woodland Opera House.
Davis holds a B.S. from West Chester University in Pennsylvania and has completed graduate work at West Chester University, Texas Woman’s University, and UC Riverside.
