Grant of more than $42,000 to Reno City Pools Creates Access for People with Disabilities.

Everybody in the pool!

Swimming and water exercise lends freedom and fitness to those whose lives may be confined to a wheelchair or who move with limitations. The David Shaw-Kennedy III fund granted the City of Reno $42,547 to purchase upgraded Aqua Lifts that can carry up to 500 lbs, Aqua Steps, and specialized rafts, floats, collars, and jackets for those who need them to participate in classes. The lifts and equipment will be used at the Evelyn Mount Northeast Community Center Pool, the Northwest Pool, and the Idlewild Pool. Equipment can be transferred to the Traner Pool as needed during the summer months.
