Why:          Dixie Lee Bradshaw (February 21, 1942 -June 20, 2012) was an educator with the Washoe County School District for 21 years. During her tenure, she proudly served as the principal at Brown Elementary School, Sun Valley Elementary School, and Caughlin Ranch Elementary School. Dixie and her husband, Bob, financed her self-titled “principal’s fund” at each school. She would use the fund to buy an at-risk student lunch after the student achieved a shared goal, buy a school mascot costume, and/or finance a class or school project that did not fit into an existing school budgetary category.

Dixie passed away after a long, courageous battle with cancer. Her family, friends, and colleagues, would like her legacy toward children to carry on through the Dixie Bradshaw Memorial Principal’s Fund.
