Before joining the Community Foundation of Northern Nevada Board in 2016, Kevin Melcher helped start the Community Foundation of Elko County while living in Elko, Nevada. Kevin is the Immediate Past Board Chair and on the Nominating Committee. He served as the Chair of the Stewardship Committee 2018 - 2021.

Kevin was a teacher before working as a school and district-level administrator within the Elko County School District for 22 years. After he retired from the school district, he was elected to the Board of Regents for the Nevada System of Higher Education and served as a Regent from 2011- 2016. He also served on the Nevada State Board of Education from 2013-2015 and again from 2019-2021.

Kevin brings experience to the Community Foundation through his previous and current work with several nonprofits and fundraising organizations, including the Great Basin College Foundation, the Elko General Hospital Foundation, Communities in Schools, the UNR Alumni Council, and Rotary Club. Kevin serves as a board member for the Reno Philharmonic and Commissioner for the Northwest Commission of Colleges and Universities. "Working with the Community Foundation is one way I am able to help Northern Nevada grow and thrive."

Kevin has been married for over 42 years to his wife, Ann Marie. Both are Reno natives. Kevin enjoys traveling and participating in winter sports in his free time.
